Content marketing is about creating content and marketing it. It’s that simple.

Yes there may be a ton of books out there about marketing, funnels, etc., but there aren’t any good or useful books specifically related to this shiny new thing called “content marketing,” which isn’t really new at all.

Content marketing has been around well for ages but didn’t really explode until 2012 when everyone took the line ‘let’s make great content and market the sh** out of it’.

In today’s selection of content marketing books you could say that they are a mashup with the view of “take all these elements that exist in content marketing and slap a new label on them.” At worst – which many of them are – they are repackages of information that has existed and been available for free for at least a decade, and much longer if you go back before the proliferation of the internet.

Our view on this is that

* All the information contained within them are likely available for free through blogs, tutorials, podcasts, etc.
